At Brian Clarke, we are proud of our reading culture and how much our students simply love to read.
Over summer, we are setting all of our current year 7 a Summer Reading Challenge to complete before they join us in September as Year 8.
The Summer Reading Challenge is to:
1) Read two books
2) Create either a book review or creative piece about one of the books
3) Read four non-fiction articles
All students are expected to engage with the Summer Reading Challenge, and hand their completed booklet, along with any creative pieces/book reviews, to their Form Tutor on the first day back in September.
All students have been given a booklet, and opportunities prior to finishing school to take out at least two books. Tutors will also launch the Challenge with students in Form Time (there is a link to the Tutor presentation below).
If your child would like access to more books over summer, there are many fantastic libraries across Oldham, which can be found here: Find a library | Oldham Council. It is free for anyone to join our local libraries and take out books.
