Safeguarding

At The Brian Clarke Academy we are committed to keeping our students safe both within academy grounds and out in the wider community.

Our Safeguarding policy, including the Prevent Duty, is determined at Trust level.

The protection of students is achieved through:

• The broad and balanced curriculum.
• Students’ SMSC provision.
• The inclusive nature of reflection and worship.
• Appropriate checks and supervision on visiting speakers.
• All student clubs having adequate staff supervision.
• Internet controls ensuring students are safe from inappropriate material in school.
• E-Safety education of students, parents and staff, including the risks of online exploitation and radicalisation.
• All staff being trained in safeguarding on appointment, with appropriate annual training updates.
• The core pastoral team receiving appropriate training, including Prevent Awareness, so that they are able to advise and support other staff on protecting children from the risk of exploitation and radicalisation.
• Trust policy which clarifies the required referral route by the Designated Safeguarding Lead to Channel or MASH.
